Find the fastest DNS resolver for the network you're actually on.
Resolver Race benchmarks public DNS resolvers from your iPhone over plain DNS (IPv4 and IPv6), DNS-over-HTTPS, and DNS-over-TLS, then ranks them by speed and reliability. It also checks whether each resolver validates DNSSEC, answers honestly for domains that don't exist, filters ads or adult content, and whether something on your network is answering in the resolver's place.
The app is free and includes five resolvers, six queries per test, and one run per race — enough to see whether your current DNS is holding you back. All my UDP resolvers show the same 1 ms time. Your router or a local DNS server is intercepting port 53 and answering in their place. The app flags those rows with a warning triangle. The DoH and DoT rows are unaffected — use those to compare honestly, or turn off the DNS filtering feature on your router.
Why does the app ask for Local Network permission? Only to test the DNS server
your own network hands out, which usually has a private address like 192.168.1.1.
Declining just omits that one row.
IPv6 resolvers show N/A. Your current network has no routable IPv6, so those rows are skipped rather than reported as failures.
Does the app collect anything? No. Every test runs on your device, results stay on your device, and there are no analytics, accounts, or servers of ours involved.
